They say an image says 1000 words. I think that music can evoke and express full range of emotions. I want to find a way how to experience visual beauty with the power that only music can express. An overwhelming and emotionally powerful experience.
In the world of imagery, visual overdose in public (and even private) space ... illustration plays a significant role. To me its a visual puzzle... uncoded puzzle, that invites the viewer to decode the message. I like to think that even in the international decoding visual alphabet, images can speak for themselves. Overall, in commercial circumstances, the power of illustration is coercive. Its main function has a lot to do with appeal and seduction. In the given circumstances my personal agenda is quite similar to spectacular numbing in commercial practice. But in reality illustrators serve as a tool to create spectacular environment for consumer's pleasure or distraction. Its up for me to decide, and draw a line between seduction and beauty. Its not simple. In my personal vision I strive for experiment and academic-theory based approach, which in most mainstream consumer societies is not included and unfortunately not acceptable.
There is a gap between academic and everyday language. But I think that complexity of life cannot be reduced to simple minded solutions and aspirations. We as creatives need academic approach for our practice, to make our profession as credible and trustworthy as possible. By doing that we can make progress and step beyond stylistic decorations of empty surfaces.
